Grace

One fine day, today, the elf had a waltz test. She picked a partner, and they practiced and performed. The elf's grace, elegance, and ability to follow astounded the judges, and all was well. Then our lovely elf left her class and started down some stairs. Now, the land in which this elf lives in is full of hills and stairs; the elf goes up and down stairs many times every day. But today, in a moment of less than usual grace and poise, she missed the last step to the landing, and probably sprained her ankle. She also has a long green and purple bruise on her elbow, a gift from a banister her elbow met on her way down. That evening her ankle started to swell, and upon some wise advice from a companion, she put some ice on it. Perhaps tomorrow she will not go to work.

Well, good job on the waltz test, at least.

I sprained my ankle my very first day of college by missing a stair in one of the classrooms. So my post-high-school educational experience was book-ended by clumsy accidents that made it painful to walk.
